Default Looking for a special part

Hi !
2001 Chrysler Sebring Sedan 2.7.
I´m looking for a kind "filter",located under the defogger/defroster grille on the dash board coverpanel.
I spent hours and hours checking out any online parts list I could find ,but did not find anything close to what I´m looking for.
It looks like kind of a rough sponge or something like that and is located under the square type grille facing to the windshield.
Sadly, since Chrysler´s been sold to FIAT resources and services on Chrysler are very small in Germany !
Any sugesstions what this "filter" is called and where to get it ?
I try to take a picture of it or what´s left from it next days .
Thank You
Greets from Germany

My 2001 convertible has no such thing in that place. I have a 2001 parts book that shows nothing like that. Perhaps some previous owner put something in there for some reason. I can't imaging what function that would serve. It seems like it would decrease the air flow and reduce defroster effectiveness.

If you happen to see a similar model parked somewhere, take a look and see if it has that.
