Need help bad please

I just bought a 96tranny Sebring vert. The cars interior has water damage not a big deal. The lady I hot it from said she had a new motor put in and it never ran right since. Wen the car is cold it runs fine. Alas soon as it warms up and you give it gas it hesitates coughs back fires and will not go down the road. But it will not stall.. I'm completely lost I've revered worked on a front wheel drive car before. I need to know how to have this problem solved. Any help is appreciated

Water damage IS a big deal. What it leaves behind is a gift that keeps on giving for a Looooong time. This may not be a road you want to go down unless you have the knowledge and ability (and deep pockets) do do everything yourself including the diagnosis.

It onlygot got the floors. There not rotted the car isn't rotted just the floors are filled with water. I have to gut the interior anyways to clean it all out. But I want to get it running good first

What I was referring to was all of the wiring, actuator and sensors under the hood as well as lower dash, as in the junction block. You may not be sure how high the water got up inside the car, but however high it got you can pretty much be sure the outside got deeper.

I just did a Stratus that had water up to the bottom of the console but up to the the wipers on the outside. Cost about 3,000 in parts and diag to get it right (even though we strongly advised against it) but I can promise you they'll be back sometime in the next couple months with more problems. When wiring harnesses get soaked good it's a nightmare.
