Default New owner 2000 LXI and P1494 code question

This is my first post on this forum so first let me tell you about my car. i picked up a 2000 LXI for 900 bucks with 140000 miles and some suspension problems. this 900 dollar car quickly turned into a 2000 dollar car now that the suspension is all set. after picking it up from the mechanic, i noticed the "service engine soon" light came on and when i go to fill up my tank with gas, the gas nozzle "clicks" even though the tanks empty. i did search for the code i got which was P1494 and apparently it has something to do with the gas tank. any ideas on how to fix this? by the way i absolutly love the car and hopefully it will last me a few years. thanks chris

P1494 denotes a problem with the leak detection pump. This is a part of the system that prevents leakage of fuel vapor to the atmosphere (Evaporative Emissions). If the pump must be replaced, they'll have to remove the fuel tank, which would be a good time to check out that problem with filling the tank.
