Default New owner in need of help

hi all,

i recently purchased a 2000 Chrysler sebring 2.5 v6 jxi about 4 months ago.
it has approx 74,000 miles

i have not had any transmission issues until the other day i jumped in my car and it just started shifting really hard. it shifted hard into second then third. then went into limp mode and throw the check engine light on.

i checked power-train codes and and it was an
P0700 transmission control module.
i figured this was the transmissions way of putting the mil on.
i pulled transmission codes and this is what i have.
-P0731 first gear incorrect ratio
-P0733 third gear incorrect ratio
-P1790 fault immediately after shift.
-P1792 battery power disconnection (my wife left my lights on about a week ago and i jump started the car and it has been fine since).
-ignition count 5

-the speedo still works so I'm guessing my output solenoid works
-i cant see it being the tcm because all my PRND3L all light up and it actually goes into drive.
-my valves block sounds like my valves are chattering, is that normal on these?

any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks in advance.

I think you want to replace your input and output speed sensors. They are plastic and screw into the forward facing side of the transmission. This is supposed to solve that problem most of the time and are not that expensive.

In my brothers 2.5 with the autostick. We had to have his solenoid replaced twice. The first was around 85 to 90K miles and the second was around 160K miles. I am not going to speculate what your prob might be, but I will tell you that if you take it somewhere to get fixed, please don't waste the extra cash at a general mechanic. Go straight to a tranny shop.

Thanks for you help guys,
it was a $17 input senosr.
so if you have these codes

-P0731 first gear incorrect ratio
-P0733 third gear incorrect ratio
-P1790 fault immediately after shift.
-P1792 battery power disconnection

If your speedo works then it is an input sensor and if it is doesnt work then its a output sensor.

thanks all........

Good report. It's great when a poster comes back with a good result. We're all learning here.
