Default newbi question on error codes

Is there a way to read the error codes on a 2001 Sebring without purchasing a scanner tool? Car will not start so taking it somewhere is not an option.
Any help would be appreciated.

This has been the best car I have ever owned. Bought it new and now it has 145,000 miles and no real issue just minor stuff!
I get in it to start and it will not crank! Battery seems good lights come on strong. Turn the key and hear some dings but when I try to strat na da! I also noted that the radio gets no power and the temp/compass is displaying some wierd numbers and or dashes.
I towed it home (300 miles :-( ) and it is sitting in my garage I haven't had a chance to look at it yet.
