PCM Phantom Codes
I purchased a 2007 Chrysler Sebring that I am trying to clear codes on. The codes are as follows. P0300, P0301, P1607, U1110, U1120, U1412, P0335, U1403, P0700. I started by replacing the battery as it was shot. This didn't clear any of them. (I didn't expect it to, but I know it is a factor in some cases.) The first I was trying to tackle was the P0335. I replaced the CKP but the code did not clear. In looking into this code and several others it seems like a faulty PCM can cause these issues. The previous owners did replace their PCM just before they parked this car for several years. I am not sure if I should try and reprogram, replace, or pursue another avenue I haven't thought about. To be clear the vehicle drives perfectly. There are no hesitations, misfires, difficult starts or shifting issues I can detect. Any ideas or direction would be greatly appreciated!
P0700 means that there is a transmission fault code stored in the computer. You need a more sophisticated code reader to drill down to find out what that specific code is. The misfire codes could be something simple like a worn spark plug. Could also be something like a clogged fuel injector. Try a can of fuel injector cleaner. Cheap, might help, can't hurt.
