Cool Power door lock button not working when door is open

The drivers side power door lock button seems to only work if the door is closed. I think there is a wire that might be breaking?

There's a little tab in the ignition switch that won't let you lock the doors when the key is in the switch, so you don't accidentally lock the keys in the car. Sometimes that little tab gets stuck, so the car thinks the key is in the switch. Put a drop of WD-40 or other very light oil on the key, stick the key in the switch and wiggle it in and out. That might free up the little tab.
