Default Removing Center Console of a 2000

Hi,

I'm trying to remove the center console (including the cover over the area where the gear shifter is located). I'm not seeing any screws on the outside - which I'm sure is not an accident, but I'm hesitant to assume it "pops" out.

Any suggestions? I guess I start by opening the hinged "lid" to the console and remove the "cubby compartment" and take it from there?

Coupe or sedan/convertible? Makes a difference. But either way, you need to get under the shift indicator as well as going through the box.
