Default squirly ride

Hey Guys, I have a 1999 Chrysler Sebring Convertible. When I am drving on the Freeway at like 70 mph and I go over a bump the car jumps sidways like six inches, or at least it feels that way. Is that normal for older convertibles or something? I just want to know if I need to get it checked out for my safety or if I just need to get used to it. I used to drive a Cadilac so I am used to a really smooth ride so maybe that is it. I also ask b/c my car is salvaged title and was in a accident and was hit a litte in the left rear.

thanks, beracuda
