Timing Belt Design Information
Hello all new owner of a 2002 Sebring LX, vin code "x" for the engine. It does need a timing belt and all the other items inside. I am having trouble determing which design I have for the tensioner, 1st or 2nd. Part stores are no help, online, same they just list both, parts jockey at counter just throw up their hands. I do not want to take apart the engine to find out I have the wrong one, furthermore I want to order online so I dont want to deal with returns. Funny thing I noticed about the service manual, does not even list my engine code "x" as an option in the vin. Anyone know how to tell the diffrence without taking it apart ?

Not really because there was a change in production half way through the year 2 options take it down look get right one or buy both and go from there.
I will tell u though the older ver is better to upgrade to the new style less issues Which also means different covers and several other items to upgrade it to new design.
