Default Transmission stuck in Park.

I have an 07 Sebring with about 47,000 miles on it. i just drove it on a long trip and parked it. now i get in and start it and try to put into drive and the shifter wont move at all. I think it is some kind of brake pedal sensor but dont want to spend a small fortune for someone to replace a cheap part. any ideas? has anyone else had this problem?

Try using the search function with "transmission stuck in park" as your search term. There has been a fair amount of discussion of the problem, mostly regarding a Pacifica, but it might apply to your Sebring.
