Hi,
1997 Sebring convertible.

I have seen a couple posts about keeping the window weather strips clean and supple by using a silicon weather strip protectant. Problem is, I have visited a couple of auto stores but cannot find anything. Can anyone recommend a brand and/or store where it can be purchased?

Here's some silicone spray, but I have no idea if it's what you want.

It claims it "brightens" leather and vinyl, but if it helps rubber?

 

Thanks dcotter for your reply! I was wondering if anyone would ever answer me. However the Liquid Wrench is something I have (and have used) to help remove and replace my muffler recently! I wonder if that is good for rubber?

I was hoping to hear about something used by Nicole and and yakdude01 way back in June, 2007. It was in a thread entitled "How to Care for your top". I see so many posts about water leaks I would have thought someone would have experienced and solved the same problem.

Its funny, really. I bought my 97 Sebring only a few weeks ago. I had always liked the Sebring convertible since I rented one twice in Hawaii and twice in Las Vegas over the past years. While visiting relatives in Florida, I found a 92 year old lady wanting to sell hers fairly cheap (one owner, bought it new). Original 21,600 miles, and she basically only drove it to the grocery store once a week. And while that sounds like a great find I now realize it wasn't. The motor never really warmed up, so the muffler was shot (rusted). Motor had the oil changed regularly by Jiffy Lube (yuck) but I also think she was a two footed driver since the front rotors (and pads) were also worn. And while the oil looks clean, those type of driving habits are indicative to a build up of sludge (doing an Auto-RX clean as we speak).
Will also need to get new tires since although there is lots of tread left, they are 13+ years old (lots of sidewal cracks) and I see numerous sidewall gouges where she kissed the curb more than once.

That Liquid Wrench stuff I sent is not the old petroleum based Liquid Wrench I don't think. It's silicone based, but like I said, I can't vouch for it and whether it's any good for rubber.
