Default 2001 300 m pcm

I have a code p0601, I know this is an internal problem in the pcm. so I went to the salvage yard and got a matching pcm, put it in and after three starts it would not do any thing because of the security link. Put the old one back in for now. my problem now is finding a dealer to flash the pcm, does the pcm have to be in the car to flash it ? I can go on the internet and buy one that is preflashed with my vin.no. and mileage. just trying to do it the cheaper route, one dealer told me he cant flash the one from the salvage yard. is he just giving me the run around or what? thanks for any help.

they are correct you can not erase the software in teh old pcm to match you car its a security system if you could simply do that they why have an alarm in teh first place.

New a brand new one or a pre programmed one from a location that sells them with you info already programmed into teh pcm.

You will need a matching set, PCM, SKIM & Key. 99-10 300M can sometimes be found here : Chrysler 300M Enthusiasts Club ? View forum - Buy/Sell/Trade
Note 02 and up are not compatible with earlier years.

Question pcm replacment

Kevin, just got off the phone with another dealership and asked him about this and he told me that they can reprogram the matching pcm and skim to my car, Just wondering if there is some thing he does not know that you do. and if it is a security thing why can I go on the internet and buy one all ready flashed(plug and play) with just me giving my vin no. mileage. mine is 2001, says the newer models you can not.

you talked to a service writer not a tech unless he knows first hand that it can be done or does it him self how can he know? I been there for 15 years and Iv never been able to change the software in a pcm and change it over to something different.
The programmed ones set things up with the right software and skim code already in the pcm .
