I took my 2006 300 limited to a mechanic so they can troubleshoot a clanking sound that happens every now and then on turning. Mechanic said upper control arm is fine but I need to replace bushings. I called the dealer for the parts and they said that the car was designed so I have to replace the upper control arm and that bushings can't be replaced separately. Then he pitched that I need to get both arms. Basically It felt like I was being taken for a ride. I just don't know by who. CAN the upper control arm bushings on my 2006 300 limited be replaced without replacing the entire control arm?

 

Mechanics have grown more and more lazy.. everything is about "replacing the whole thing".

I'm just done with replacing both lower control arm bushings on my 2010 Sebring.
It was a job, no doubt. Required a shop press, a ball joint/U joint press, and some wit, But both new bushings are in, both sides.

So yes, your bushings are replaceable, but the labor included, it may turn out to be as pricey.

watch out for ****ty low tier control arms, made of ****ty Chinese steel, if you keep the car for a 50K miles more, you're bound to see more issues.

Bottom line, find a mechanic that's willing to do the bushing labor, and not "whole control arm out - whole control arm in" type of job.
