Default 2013 300 3.6L AWD not engaging

Hi all! I have a 2013 300 3.6L with 203K/mi. The AWD is not engaging 95% of the time, regardless of the triggers - (Wheel slippage, temp, wipers, disengaging the traction control). On the info center, it does indicate it is in awd, however, the front wheels are not engaging.

I am getting a moderate amount of clunking from the drive line, in the transfer case/front diff area(s). I didn't see anything that jumped out at me, anyone aware of any common failures or where to start? I don't want to start throwing expensive drive line components at my 200K 300 lol
