Default Chrysler 300M ATC issues

Wife has a 2000 300M. The first issue started last winter with it not wanting to blow heat, and now the A/C air will only come out of the defrost. It does come out of the rear of the console to the back seat. It has the ATC unit in it and I'm looking for a little direction on this. I bought a Haynes Manual for the vehicle only to have it tell me that "The ATC is a complex unit and beyond the ability of a home mechanic and should be taken to the dealer for service" Really? I'm working under the assumption that with the ATC the blend doors are electric motor controlled and not vacuum. If anyone has a wiring diagram or can tell me where to find the blend door motors so I can troubleshoot them. I'm guessing there are at least 2, one for air temp and another one (or 2) for air flow selection.

Any help is appreciated, I haven't been able to find anything online and Haynes really let me down on this one.

thanks!

M,

You may be better served in the correct forum. This one is for 300 cars after the 300m.

I'm not sure about the earlier front drive cars, but some problems on the later rear drive cars involve electronics that must be scanned and serviced by a Chrysler dealer. Without the proper (expensive) tools, your just poking around in the dark.

You are probably right about the ATM, but whatever computer controls it is probably beyond your ability to deal with. Maybe you'll get lucky and find a mechanical problem or simple electrical wiring problem with it.

I just went through this with the totally integrated power module. The only fix was a new one and the proper programming at a Chrysler dealer.
