Default Easiest way to over 190HP for 300?

My dad recently purchased me a Chrysler 300 as my new Car. It's silver, and I have already installed the mesh grill with new rims on the way.
I love the car, but is desperately slow on the take off. I do not need HEMI performance, but something in the ball park of 250 - 300 HP would be
appreciated. I have about $10,000 to spend, (extra scholarhip money), and I live in Detroit. Would going the route of new exhaust and cold air intake
be enough? Thank you.

Doyou have the 2.6L base model or a 3.5L V6? Regardless that's a tall order IMO to turn that into 250 HP, not to mention 300 HP. The stock 5.7L V8 dynos at approx. 270 HP at the wheels, best way to get the most HP to the ground is to go with a 180 Tstat, possibly a CAI and a higher flow exhaust from the cats back and NOT go to with heavier fancy rims, etc.

If you've got scholarship money... use it for scholarly pusuits, not down the drain of a vehicle which someone could ram and ruin tomorrow.

Or hang on to the 10k for a year, enjoy the car you have ("Thanks Dad!") and then trade it and the cash for a more powerful model after you know just precisely what you want.

You're right about hanging on to the money, but I'm going to have this car until college is over, so I want it to really be nice

In terms of the car performance, it isn't like I really need 250 or 300HP (I know realize there are limits to a v6 2.7L)

However, here lies the problem...

...when turning into traffic that is doing about 40mph, and I'm doing 10-12mph turning, I notice that I have to literally floor the accelerator to meet
simply meet the cruising speeds of oncoming traffic. You might say I should just wait until traffic is clear, but alot of times there is heavy traffic behind
be and they just make a move as space becomes available. The base 300 is not a 'bust a move' car.

i think the best and mos afficient way to increase your HP, would just be to put an intake in. you can do that for around 200 or 300 dollars depending oon the quality, i think im about to do the same to my 3.5L v6, and am looking at gains of around 13 HP

an exaust system is upwards of 1000 dollars and as far as what you want, just to be able to keep up with traffic, is a little over kill.

you could also look into a throttle body spacer. i dont know a lot about them, but i know friends who have installed them in their cars and it has increased overall HP and overall performance.

a third thing you could do would be to chip your car, which involves purchasing a chip that allows you to control the computer in your car. for a chrysler 300 this is around 300 or 400 dollars. this would give you more HP and more power and acceleration, however it does void your warranty, so i wouldnt suggest it if you still have your factory warrany.

thats about it, hope i was of some help.

Throttle body spacers have not proven to provide any gains on LX vehicles. From what I've read on other forums, they actually may hurt performance. These cars are overly dominated by the resident computer, affectionately known as HAL (from the movie - 2001: A Space Odessey). So chips have been somewhat limited also... particularly for base models IMO.

By the end of August, Diablo is supposed to have a "programmer" which may be applicable across the LX line ... so wait, but don't hold your breath. Initially they said it would be available by end July. Gearheads have been waiting for a legitimate tuner ever since the LX platform launched and DCX was very tight handed in terms of making PCM code, etc., available and open to the aftermarket.
