Unhappy Popping sound.

I have a 2007 Chrysler 300, touring model. There's a popping noise coming from the engine. It sounds like hot oil but it's not. The popping sound is very loud. It usually happens after I park my car. The noise lasts about 20 minutes. Any suggestions? Please

Could be the sound of the exhaust pipe and/or catalytic converter cooling and contracting. Those things can get very hot. I would describe the sound more like a "ping" than a "pop" but if that's what it is, it's normal. Open the hood next time and see if you can tell where the sound is coming from.

Default Popping sound

Sorry I'm a chic so my subscriptions are not that great. It's not so much a ping it's more of a pop. The best way to discribe it would be to say... If I were to throw a pretty good size rock at a piece of metal. Not sure if that makes a difference in my description?

I've heard that on ford work trucks kind of like popcorn after driving a lot in a day. Didn't affect the performance on the trucks. It may be from the car converter pipes.
