Default possible purchase, will rwd do in snow?

hi everyone, this is my first post here. I'm looking around for another car. I've always liked the look of the 300. We do get some good snowfalls here and wanted to know if the rwd will do okay in the snow? I would definitly put some dedicated snow tires on the car.
I've driven rwd cars before with not too much problem (when i was single) but with a family now, dont wanna risk always getting stuck.
I think one factor is that the front is rather low to the ground?
There are a few AWD models for sale, but wonder if it's really necessary? (plus less things to break down).
I'm looking at 2006-2010 model years.
anything to look out for? thanks
fab
