My 2006 SRT 8 with 93,000k on the clock has recently developed slight up and down movement on both sides of the steering wheel but none on top and bottom ! anyone have any idea what it may be ? Mikeh

Unless your steering wheel is made of soft rubber it would be impossible for the sides to move up and down, without the top and bottom moving proportionally the same. In other words, if the side and moving up and down alternately, the top and bottom would be moving left and right, alternately. Basic physics of a solid round object. But hazarding a guess at the terribly vague question, I would guess you have a tire, or steering, or suspension problem.

Maybe I did not explain it more simply ! If I hold the steering wheel at a quarter to three position and push down & pull up it has some movement as though the wheel is loose on the steering shaft but it does not do it holding it on a 6 to 12 position !
