Default Storage bin - center consol

Does anybody know how much room is behind this "cubbie". I want to expand mine in depth and also set back the electrical outlet about 3/4 of an inch. The space I'm talking about is forward of the gear shift under the HVAC controls.

Cool - hope you can accomplish your goal. I was gonna try to fit a really small handgun in mine after getting a conceal permit but I can't get the door closed with any of the smallest guns my friends own.

Off topic question for you - are you able to message members on this forum? I need to message ChryslerCares my VIN and some other info related to a repair my local dealer is trying (and winning so far) to shaft me on. Whenever I click the name and then view profile it gives me the usual vbulletin message of lacking permission from what I assume is low post count. I've tried contacting the site admins but it's been almost 24 hours now with no answer.

My objective exactly re the small HG. My Beretta Pico is just a skoch too big and it must close and latch to meet the letter of the law. Now to find a used "storage bin" to cut out just in case I botch it all up.

So far I have been unable to locate a "used" storage bin and that's with 2 operations supposedly doing a regional search. There are any number of new units available from various OEM vendors who sell in the aftermarket on eBay and Amazon but the prices range $175 to $275. Too much for a box I'm going to hack up don't you know.
BTW: Around here it's been very difficult to get wrecking yards to return calls or answer the phone. A good number have changed hands and no longer have valid phone numbers on their websites. Go figure.

Are there any online junkyards? Something like copart but that will chop 'em up versus selling a whole car?
