Default 2007 Chrysler Aspen

Hello, I have a 2007 Chrysler Aspen with 110,000 miles. Is it necessary to change the thermostat if I'm not having problems with it? Same questions with shocks and/or struts.

Thanks for your help!

If your NOT having problems with either item it is not a necessary repair. You will be able to tell when the shocks/struts begin to wear out.

At that age & mileage the thermostat could potentially fail at any time which could cause overheating of the engine and make the vehicle inoperable. Its better to replace the thermostat as normal maintenance to keep from be stranded somewhere. Thermostats are also a very easy inexpensive item.

ChryslerCares, that sounds like two completely different responses!

I'm not sure I'd replace the thermostat unless you have a compelling reason to think it's failing.

The shocks are another story -- the OEM shocks are only good for around 40-50k typically, so if you're on the originals I would expect riding in your truck to result in sea sickness. The Bilstein HD shocks are fantastic, and a lot of people here are using them. They're much firmer than the original shocks, though.

What I meant was neither are "absolutely necessary" if neither are showing signs of needing replacement however if thermostat fails the vehicle will overheat. The suspension doesn't usually fail so quick that the vehicle cannot be driven.

Thank you for your response. I will probably replace thermostat and suspension to avoid any breakdown issues.
