Default 2007 Chrysler Aspen

I have an oppertunity to buy a 2007 Aspen... 5.7 .. fully loaded.. seller says he has been driving it locally and on the interstate for well over a year with all the dash lights on... check engine, traction control, ABS, etc etc.... ALL are on... he claims he never took it in anywhere because it has always started and has never had any issues.... did these vehicles have electrical problems on the dash??? he says it has set for days at a time and starts right up do no battery drain or nothing. Anybody heard of this issue with theis year/model??

Although the Aspen does have some electrical issues, I've never seen one where all the dash lights would come on without a reason. Could be a shorted dash, bad grounded dash or even a bad PCM/ECM. First thing I would do before buying is have the codes pulled. Any auto parts store can read the codes. Have the seller meet you at one and let them check with both of you there. Review codes to see what possible issues you may have and go from there. Report back any codes you may find so we can further assist.

So now I have been told the PCM is shot.... so if the computer is shot, how is it that it starts, runs, stops and everything on it works.... seller has been driving like that for over a year.... thinking the shop is wrong and they just want to sell me a new computer??

Did you get any trouble codes? Like I said previously, I would have the seller meet at an auto parts store (AutoZone, O'rielly's, etc) to get the codes pulled for free. Not some shop that the seller chooses as they could be working together. The codes should give you some kind of indication of what is wrong. If codes cannot be pulled, then yes, you could have a PCM issue. If this is the case, I think the seller should resolve this issue before selling. I personally would not buy a vehicle with issues like this without them being fixed first. If the seller wants to sell, they need to fix it first or deduct a substantial amount from the price for the repairs. Just my opinion.

Well you can't beat it for $500. Could probably get that in scrap alone if nothing else. I would still take it to a part store to read codes to give you an idea of what may be wrong. If they can't tell you anything, then seek another shop for a second opinion for problem before shelling out money for repairs.

OK, so the 3 lights are still on... ABS, Traction Control and ESP .. I bought a code reader/deleter ... it reads the codes and when it says "erase" I hit yes.... the 3 lights dont flicker, dont turn off then come back on they just stay light it's over riding the delete code.... shouldnt they at least turn off and then the computer recognize an error so then they would come back on?? they just stay on..... found out the guy I bought it from put it in a ditch and had to have it pulled out, front right tired came off the rim and broke the valve stem.. so they put the tire back on and put in a regular valve stem. So yes the tires pressure sensor is on too but at least I know why.. anyway a mechanic at the dealership told me to start with that wheel sensor because something could have happened when he put it in the ditch. He said a bad wheel sensor could also cause the 3 lights to be on??? Other's I have talked to said that the ditch would have nothing to do with it... any thoughts or suggestions???
