Default New Aspen Owner - Road Noise?

Hi,

I just purchased a 2007 Aspen with 71000 miles. I picked it up in Denver and drove it over the mountains without a problem. Love that Hemi!

One thing I am concerned about is the road noise. I test drove an 09 and it was as quiet as could be but this one is noisier than my old caravan.

Does anyone know if the 07's were just noisier or could there be an issue.

It's even noisy just driving around town. Almost seems like a rear end whine.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Brad

If it's a rear end whine, you'll need to get that checked out. If it's wind noise, take a look at your doors from the outside when they're closed. One or more may need to be realigned.

Thanks! I'm having the axle fluids changed out and I'll check the door alignment.

Come to think of it, the rear passenger door looks a hair high.

Thanks again for the tip!

Did you get the wind noise solved?

Not yet. I'm taking it in for the fluids change this weekend. I also noticed the right rear rim is bent which may have somethingto do with it.

One thing at a time tillI figure it out I guess.

Default Found it!

So after a year I got a new mechanic and he found out the bearings in the rear end were going out. He said its a pretty common problem with those rear ends. By buddy with an 09 Ram said he had his in to the dealership 3 times for the same issue. Hopefully my guy is better than the dealership.

Had the bearings replaced and the front end aligned and she is much quieter now. Once I get the new tires on she should be like a new car!

Wow. Good to know. I was going to say possibly tires. I know the off road ones make more noise. Glad you found the problem.

Some tire are wider than others and if they protrude out beyond the fender flares you will get noise.
