Default Watch the Hatch being in the raised position!

This is a warning to all of the Aspen owners. Be careful when parking in a garage area, parking garage, etc., that you lower the hatch before moving the car. We were loading the car at the hotel, had the hatch raised got ready to depart and both the driver and passenger thought the other one put the hatch down. Neither one did and therefore when we drove off the hatch bounced off the concrete beams in the garage ceiling.

The rear hatch panel, rear wiper blade, chrome Chrysler emblems were all messed up. So with an estimate of $1,241.65 we are getting the hatch repaired and repainted. 15 seconds of not paying attention was the cause. The good news, if any, the rear window was not damaged and the hatch cover can be repaired and repainted rather than having to be replaced, so it could have been worse. If the concrete beams had been 1.5 inches further off the garage floor then there would have been no issue either.

So car will be gone for 5 days to get everything repaired.

Fully covered. $1,000 deductible, but rental car coverage is included with the insurance policy. I have to have a car daily, so that will be a benefit. The good news is unless the accident is $1,750 or more, I don't lose my accident free discounts. Scheduled for repair the week of 2/4.

Ric's Auto Body Repair and Painting in Scottsdale did a great job. Paint matched and everything done right.

That brings back horrible memories to our 2005 Town and Country minivan
My wife left it parked outside last summer, she went to the grocery store
and we all pitched in to help unload. Night came and I remembered the
van was still outside, I hopped in and drove it into the garage with the lift
gate wide open and then, "BOOM". It was ugly, both the garage door and lift gate, wiper assembly, glass, paint you name it , were damaged. I would have preferred a dead battery , the automatic shutoff for interior lights can have their drawbacks too!!!
