Default Hydraulic fluid??

Hi all! We own a 2004 SRT6 and we've been having trouble with the tonneau for ages now. The latest is that we realized that the system is running with veeeeeeery little amount of oil, and the pistons are leaking fluid through the retainers. Can anyone help with what hydraulic fluid is used for the tonneau power system? and what amount does it take? and if someone has good tips on how to purge the systerm that would be awesome. thanks for reading.
cheers,
Ginny.

Don't bother re-filling until you fix the leak. Power steering fluid should work just fine. Fill it as best you can, then cycle the system several times to remove air. Re-fill as necessary.

Thanks so much - will give this a try - finding replacement retainers may be a challenge! We are located in Tasmania - the southern most State of Australia - which is an island and has only 2 other Xfires that we know of!! Are the retainers or seals something that is standard and obtainable through standard hydraulics suppliers? Cheers Ginny

Try rockauto.com

They ship all over the world if they have the parts.

Also try a Mercedes dealer. The car was built by Mercedes.
