05 fwd auto transmission downshifting
Greetings,
I bought a 2005 Pacifica touring two months ago. It has 107000 miles. Engine is 3.5 and fwd automatic transmission.
My issue is when I start driving the transmission speeds and upshifts very well. The car accelerates quickly and even if the trany is on 4th speed, it goes back to 3rd speed if I want to make a pass or speeding the car.
But, when I make a slight stop in a traffic light or speed-bumps, the car downshifts to 2nd gear while its slowing to 10 m/hr and then downshifts to 1st gear when reaches 5 m/hr. The both I can feel them and the engine rev still the same "idle speed" while braking.
If I am driving 40 m/hr or more and make a full stop, I feel nothing and the transmission downshifts smoothly.
No fluid burn, no sounds, no check engine light, the car is very smooth when you drive it.
I wonder if this is a normal downshifting in Chrysler Pacifica's models? Because I used to drive many cars and I never had such a weird transmission downshifting like the pacifica. Or I need to do a mechanical repair.
Thanks for this valuable forum and I believe you'll get me the right answer.
