So did anyone ever figure this issue out? My 2005 Pacifica just started doing the same thing. There is a red light on my dash below the menu buttons that comes on (I'm guessing it's the security system light). I replaced battery, hoping that was it (even though all lights were on). I have had to turn the key extra hard to get it to start the last week. It didn't crank hard, just had to turn the key harder. I was thinking maybe it was the ignition assembly, but reading posts on here and elsewhere I'm not so sure. in the meantime my car won't start.

Mine ended up being the tumbler for the key and an electronic switch it connected to. Plus had to have the security re-learned. With the diagnostics & a tow plus labor & parts it came up to $540. Not good, but manageable. While they had it in they discovered I have a broken engine mount which will be a whole other set of problems. No way I can do that one on my own. I have not git a quote on the cost yet.

mmm the key cyl being replaced for a SKIM security system issue?? not likely any issues. Unless u have a key that will not turn it if thats the case then they are replacing the key cyl for no reason. and FYI unless a dealer itself is doing this they will haft to farm it out to the dealer to have the skim key replaced because the 4 pin code is only accessible by the dealer in the first place.

Well, it worked. He did say he had to get some parts from Chrysler which is why it took them an extra day.
