I am a diy guy. I changed my timing belt, water pump thermostat and decided to change the plugs while i had it apart . when I started it up it idles fine but when I give it gas it only revs to around 3000 and starts to shake and rev up and down. any ideas , could the belt be off one tooth ?

 

I let the pros weigh in, but there may be a rev limiter when there is no vehicle speed, or not in drive etc. Does it behave the same on the road?

I guess that was it .The drives fine . I have never had a car that had a rev limiter set at 2800 when in park before. thanks for the help.......

 

yes the software guys figure why the hell do u need it to go over 3000 when sitting still in park? u dont.
