I am trying to help my father in law with his 2006 Pacifica. It won't start at all. We can wiggle the shifter and it might crank but we're trying to figure out the issue. Last year the shifter was stuck in park and we fixed the issue with the metal clip the interlock cable was connected to. It shifts out of park fine but just won't start. When his foot is on brake I can hear something clicking but not sure what it is. What is this blue part on the shifter? I feel like it's the culprit because it shifts fine and the key can be removed (which was the previous problem). Like I said it just won't start. Nothing electrical seems wrong. Battery has voltage and everything comes on.

 

Success. We got it fixed. It was the ignition switch actuator. Plastic piece was broken.
