Default Blower motor removal

Can you remove the blower motor from a 2004 without removing the entire hvac housing? The bearings are squeaking like crazy on mine.

The factory service manual says to reclaim Freon, disconnect AC lines, drain coolant and disconnect heater hoses, remove center console, remove the instrument panel, remove dash panel, remove HVAC housing.
This seems almost ridiculous to get to the blower motor that can clearly be seen underneath the dash! Has anyone been able to just loosen the HVAC housing and gain enough access to replace the blower motor?

The front blower motor in a 2004 Pacifica (behind the glove box). The FSM say to:

(1) Remove the heater-A/C unit housing (Refer to
24 - HEATING & AIR CONDITIONING/DISTRIBUTION/
HVAC HOUSING - REMOVAL).
(2) Disconnect the blower motor wire harness connector
from the blower motor power module (Fig. 7).
(3) Push the rubber grommet on the blower motor
wire harness lead through the hole in the lower
intake air housing (Fig. 8).
(4) Feed the blower motor wire harness lead and
electrical connector through the grommet hole in the
lower intake air housing.
(5) Remove the screws that hold the blower motor
to the housing.
(6) Gently flex the recirculation air door far
enough to remove the blower motor and blower wheel
from the blower housing. Turn the blower motor
assembly and remove from the assembly from the
vehicle.

Then when you read the section on removing the HVAC housing, is states:
(1) Recover the refrigerant from the refrigerant
system (Refer to 24 - HEATING & AIR CONDITIONING/
PLUMBING - FRONT/REFRIGERANT - STANDARD
PROCEDURE - REFRIGERANT
RECOVERY).
(2) Drain the engine cooling system (Refer to 7 -
COOLING - STANDARD PROCEDURE - COOLING
SYSTEM DRAIN).
(3) Disconnect and isolate the battery negative
cable.
(4) Disconnect the liquid line and suction line from
the expansion valve (Refer to 24 - HEATING & AIR
CONDITIONING/PLUMBING - FRONT/LIQUID
LINE - REMOVAL) and (Refer to 24 - HEATING &
AIR CONDITIONING/PLUMBING - FRONT/SUCTION
LINE - REMOVAL).
(5) Disconnect the heater hoses from the heater
core tubes (Refer to 24 - HEATING & AIR CONDITIONING/
PLUMBING - FRONT/HEATER HOSE -
REMOVAL).
(6) Remove the four nuts that secure the heater-
A/C unit housing studs to the engine compartment
side of the dash panel (Fig. 10).
(7) Remove the instrument panel from the passenger
compartment (Refer to 23 - BODY/INSTRUMENT
PANEL/INSTRUMENT PANEL ASSEMBLY -
REMOVAL).
(8) Remove the two screws that secures the heater-
A/C unit housing bracket to the passenger compartment
side of the dash panel (Fig. 11).
(7) Remove the instrument panel from the passenger
compartment (Refer to 23 - BODY/INSTRUMENT
PANEL/INSTRUMENT PANEL ASSEMBLY -
REMOVAL).
(8) Remove the two screws that secures the heater-
A/C unit housing bracket to the passenger compartment
side of the dash panel (Fig. 11).

I am wondering if the HVAC housing can be loosened an moved so that the blower motor can be replaced without having the dis-assemble the entire car?

U are looking at removal of the rear blower motor here is the front one


Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
Remove the passenger side cowl trim panel (Refer to 23 - BODY/INTERIOR/COWL TRIM - REMOVAL).
Pull back the carpet to access the front upper screw that secures the air inlet housing.
Remove the recirculation door actuator (Refer to 24 - HEATING & AIR CONDITIONING/CONTROLS - FRONT/RECIRCULATION DOOR ACTUATOR - REMOVAL).
Remove the recirculation door actuator wire lead from the routing clip located on the lower air inlet housing and position the wire lead aside.
Disconnect the blower motor wire lead connector from the blower motor resistor block or power module, depending on application.
Remove the one screw (from the top) that secures the lower air inlet housing to the upper air inlet housing (Lower Air Inlet Housing).
Remove the four screws (from the bottom) that secure the lower air inlet housing to the upper air inlet housing and the lower HVAC housing.
Push the rubber blower motor wire lead grommet through the opening in the lower air inlet housing (Blower Motor Wire Lead Grommet).
Feed the blower motor wire lead through the opening in the lower air inlet housing and remove the lower air inlet housing from the vehicle.
Position the recirculation-air door as necessary to access and remove the three screws that secure the blower motor to the lower half of the HVAC housing.
Gently flex the recirculation air door far down enough to remove the blower motor and wheel from the HVAC housing.
Remove the blower motor and wheel from the HVAC housing. Note the position of the blower motor mounting tabs (Blower Motor Mounting Tabs).

I have gone back and checked the FSM and I am quoting the instructions for the front blower. I have a 2004 pacifica (and corresponding FSM). I am not sure if they changed this in the following years?
What year is your manual for?

Now I am really confused... here is the page from my FSM:


The only blower motor that resides within the HVAC housing is the front blower correct? The rear blower is inside the center console.

I wanted to post an update to clear any confusion...

The front blower motor on the 2004 Pacifica CAN be replaced without removing the HVAC housing following Chrysler-Tech's instructions. I just completed the job in about an hour. I am a little concerned that my FSM (bought through Chrysler) was so far off.

I know this post is like 5 years old, but my Pac front blower motor is making an awful sound, and is very sluggish, takes like 5 minutes to 'spool up' so mind giving me a few details on how you swapped yours?
