Default Changing tire size?

Today, I had to buy 4 new tires for my '04 Pacifica. The tires that came off were 235-65-17's. I changed to a 255-55-17, because I got a killer deal on some Goodyear Eagle RSA's. Can the dealer recalibrate my car so my readings aren't off?

Probably not. Or if they could, I'm sure they would charge you some service fee that would negate the savings of the tires you bought.

I ran a quick calculation comparison with the Powerdog Tire Calculator, and your new tires will read 62mph when you're actually moving 60mph. Not a big difference, probably not worth the trouble of recalibrating and then calibrating back someday if you change sizes again.

Oh wow, thank you! I was worried it would make the odometer off. I would hate to make it seem there were more miles on my car than what there really is.

Hum...seems like it will make a little bit of a difference. For every 10k miles I put on my car, there is actually 351 extra miles.....

Dangit.

Well I actually didn't think about it that way, but yeah the same math applies. For every 60 miles you travel, the odo will register 62. 3.33% difference. Still not a huge deal in the grand scheme of things.

Were those 255/55's on clearance or something?

Yeah they were clearanced out at $100 apiece. Someone special ordered them and never picked them up. They ride really smooth and I like them so far.
