Default Compass/Menu screen stopped working

I have a 2004 Pacifica. 3 days ago, the "screen" that has the compass, "Miles to Empty", menu, etc., has stopped working completely. The idiot lights still work for low tire, low fuel, etc., but the readout is blank. What has happened? How can I fix this? Any suggestions?

See my post from January. With that said, I have an 04 and mine went out around 42K. We don't have the extended warranty and the dealer said cost is $995 for the cluster. Not sure what installation will cost.

I called Chrysler customer service and they basically said since it is out of warranty I am out of luck. I raised a little h*ll because what engineer decided to integrate the entire cluster like that? Chrysler's blow...never buy another one even though I can get employee discount through brother-in-law...
