Extra Key
When I purchased my '04 Pacifica I didn't realize the extra remote keys were so expensive, and I only got 1. Is it necessary to get another remote key if I'm looking to add remote start, or am I safe buying an aftermarket transponder key that is less expensive? Also, can the dealer program the transponder key with only 1 original or will I be stuck going with the $95-$120 remote/transponder key? Thanks for the help.
You should be able to have your installer program your factory key to control the remote start. This is how mine was done. I push the lock button 3 times on the key and it starts the car. My unit is a Directed Remote Start. Tell your installer you want it setup this way then you don't have to worry about it.
Be prepared to pay for alot of extras...they may have to get into the doors, run an extra, thicker power wire as the factory ignition wire is too thin. Also the bypass system can be anywhere from $80-$140. Best Buy quoted me $400 for their cheapest unit and I fortunately went elsewhere.
