Default Factory warranty only 17 months

I thought I still had factory warranty under the 3yr/36 but I don't. First, info on my car: 2006 Chrysler Pacifica. Build date: June 21, 2006. I purchased the car on April 14, 2008. It had 17 miles on the car and I am the first owner. Today my car has 31,139 miles. I went to the dealer for a minor warranty issue when I was told I have no warranty. I talked to Chrysler and they informed me my warranty started on November 30,2006 (in service date) and ended on November 30, 2009. He also explained that if I am the first owner than the warranty starts when I bought the car. He said I should talk to the dealer where I bought the car. Unfortunately it was one of the dealers that Chrysler closed down. He said there is nothing he can do because the "in service date" is Nov 30,2006. I'm not saying that Chrysler intentionally modified records on cars sold by dealers that they shut down, but what if. On the up side I did take out the Maximum care warranty which states it is good until 2090, or 999,999 miles. I'm sure they will try to weasel out of any claims on that warranty as well. You should always check your factory warranty to make sure it isn't already counting down before you purchase a new car.

So they don't have to spend money, or because they are looking out for number one (themselves) or I have that kind of luck or when it all comes down to it they say what goes and I can't do anything about, so why wouldn't they. I hope I have no problems, but why wouldn't they try to get out of paying?

I don't know exactly what it covers either. It was the best warranty offered when I got it, and I think the brochure had a list of what it doesn't cover (cause it is a shorter list). I wander why the dealer can't bring up what is covered. I will hope for the best if I have to use it. Thanks for checking into it. Have you ever seen a factory warranty terminate early like this before?

Ok, I am just confused I guess. So the factory warranty begins when the car is sitting on the lot before it is sold. Chrysler gave me contradicting information. First they said the 3yr factory warranty starts when I bought the car, they then could not explain why the warranty started counting down 19 months before I bought the car. I don't understand, and thats ok, I just wanted to share my story. Thanks for the input Chrysler Tech.
