About 8 months ago i bought a used pacifica with 24k miles and its in great shape. it was purchased in Philly and the estimated mpg said 18.5 and i live in jersey which is different type of driving and the mpg is now down the 17.7. can any one explain why? the check engine light has been coming on every so often and the dealer can't figure out why. i got the code and it came up under evap system. i think an o2 sensor might be bad. any one ever have this problem ?

evap sys and the 02 are not the same system. The evap is for getting rid of the vapers that come from gas sitting int eh gas tank and they burn them in the engine. The 02 is for fuel management.

 

yes, my problem is every time the check engine light came on it would turn off before i got the car in to be serviced.. i retrieved the code and it came up evap. and it hasn't been on since but the gas mileage keeps dropping every so often. not sure what to do really
