Default Oil changes

I have an '07 Pac with the 4.0L I know oil capacity calls for 5 1/2 quarts with filter. If I put this amount in it always checks 1/2 quart low. I have been using 5 quarts and it checks right on the full line on the stick. Anyone else have this experience?

Huh? Maybe you should try your question again. How can it check ½ quart low when you put 5½ quarts in and then check right on the full line with 5 quarts?

There are reasons why you could get a false reading when checking the oil:

-If you are not parked on level ground, the reading could be off.
-If you start the car and run the engine for a very short time, then shut it off and check the oil, the reading will be off because the oil will be cold and up in the engine rather than down in the pan.
-You failed to push the dipstick all the way down.
-The dipstick is the wrong part or the stop at the top is broken, misplaced or missing.

I'm sure there must be other reasons, too.
