Default Playing Homemade DVDs

Hi, I am not sure if this can be done or not. I have a 2007 Pacifica Limited with the 6 DVD changer and overhead player. I made some home movies and burned it to DVD to watch in the car while on a road trip, but the Pac wouldn't read the DVD. Is there are secret for how to burn the DVDs or does it not read DVD-R, DVD+R or DVD-RW?

Thanks

Fernando

My 04 did but it was picky about them. We used -R but it would take up to a minute or 2 to actually read the disk and start playing. Sometimes it would skip. You can contact Mitsubishi electronics as they make the changer and see what they say. They were real nice to talk to when I asked them about MP3 capability.

My 05 reads -R dvds. but sometimes, like mrfixit454 said, it sometime takes a minute to load it. But I haven't had any problems with it skipping

Rule #1, don't buy any cheap, off brand discs. Thats the most common problem when it comes to read errors. Some players are picky when they start seeing too many errors, and cheap media discs will deteriorate with time...some won't last over a year. Good discs will last decades, archival gold discs for centuries.

Rule#2, Use DVD+R discs and use your Burning software to reset the Booktype to DVD-ROM when you burn them.(DVD-ROM booktype is a manufactured disc)

DVD-R discs cannot be rebranded as DVD-ROM.

See here to see how to set booktype using Nero Burning software (not free) or Nero CD/DVD Speed (free).
See here how to do it using ImgBurn, a free, full featured, burning program.
