unfortunately, i have two checks fell under the ashtray.. i need to remove that panel in order to get my checks.. i tried removing the ashtray cover to no avail instead broke it.. (another problem) hehe

i just installed sat. radio on my '04. i had to remove some panels to run the cables and whatnot in the same area you are talking about.

i would suggest you start by removing the panel under the steering col. (2 phillips screws on bottom side)
once that has been removed, you will get access to other screws holding the radio trim and center consol.

that's as far as i needed to go, but its a start for your project. good luck.
