Default When to Replace Shocks/Struts

At 55,000 miles I notice the ride starting to get sloppy while the vehicle is loaded.

Is that about the right amount of mileage for the stock shocks/struts to wear out?

Any recommendations about replacements.

After having a non-dealer break the shock housings on a different vehicle a few years ago I'm shy about letting non-dealers work on the suspension.

The frts are standard chrysler minivan issue. The rear are a self load leveling shock. Your choices will be limeted. They are expensive, too.
