Default EGR question

My 01 2.4L swallowed a valve, holed #4 piston and trashed a valve seat. I bought a donor engine, but the head is different. The original head has what I believe is an EGR valve on the back of the head on the exhaust head. There is a passage drilled from the outside where the valve attaches through to the #4 exhaust port.

The donor head has the bolt holes for the valve, but there was nothing attached there, and there is no passage. Can I get away with just drilling a passage the same size on the donor head?
