Default 02 voyager pcm swap without reprograming?

I have a 02 Chrysler voyager. Several code readers have told me "you need to buy a new computer +have dealer program it"(I've heard of people driving around forever like this) my van does not have a chip key for ignition I have a similar parts van. My question how many components would I have to swap to get it to run? Would pcm+bcm be enough or would I have to also swap fuse box I'm even willing to swap dash instrument cluster and steering column. Any comments would be gratefully appreciated! HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! 🤔

need back history on this first not being told the whole story. Whats the currant issue? will not start and why. What color key do you have? was it a chip key before what did you do replace the key cylinder? Lots of stuff not told to make this as simple as possible. I have answers just need to know whats going on.

it has a rough idle. Key is silver(all metal) I believe it never had chip key. Key fits doors. It just won't give up codes. PS she's a short wheelbase plain Jane.

got ya is your pcm teh 2 big connectors 32 pin each? if so you can get away with swapping it as slog long as the one you putting in does not have any alarm features from the old van. and doubt a rough idle has anything to do with a pcm,. If there was you would have codes

THANK YOU CHRYSLER tech I love your take on it. Many have said that my pcm is not "plug and play" and has to be programmed to the vin. How can I tell if my donor van has (had) a alarm? Also I forget the one and only code my pcm will give but the explanation of it is"BAD PCM YOU NEED TO GO TO THE STEALERSHIP AND BUY A NEW PCM AND HAVE DEALER PROGRAM NEW PCM" that sounds expensive. Thank you very much for any further help. 😀

p0601 sounds familiar I'm pretty sure that was the code I was getting so no way to tell if donor car has alarm?

Perhaps key or fob difference or sticker on the door panel?
