1,000 plus mile trip
My family and I will be leaving next week to go on a trip to Charleston SC, our van has been all checked over, fluid checked and filled if needed. I will post what I get out of each tank and hopefully we wont run across any troubles. I95 will be the main route, a little bit of 91 to start off and end up on I 26.
Well just to let you know it's 400 odd miles from Edinburgh to Dover on heavily congested roads. Not many of us here can afford big petrol engines especially at 3.8 litres, god knows what 1000 miles would cost at about £1.40 odds a litre.
Good luck anyway and let us know how you get on.

£1.30 a litre round here, wifes got a Frontera 3.2 doing around 15mpg. (I was looking at 1.5 dci Clios when we bought it, not much difference).
1000 mile round trip works in at a little over £390. That's why it's not used much lol.
I got 42 mpg out the 2.5 voyager the other day on a 120 mile run.
I've seen me going to Paignton a couple of times (900 mile round trip with a couple of hundred whilst there over the fortnight), and once done a journey at around 900 miles.
The Voyagers a great car to do it in.

Well I've driven the I95 between Alexandria and Fayetteville on a couple of occasions in a 3.8 and averaged about 26 mpg which I thought was excellent considering passing through both Alexandria and Richmond had me tied up in traffic. Even got it up to 29 at one time with the cruise control, heading back up the I95(crossed over to the 58) to Chesapeake, but that was late at night with very little traffic. LOL! But between the cities its a good road, mostly flat and can be surprisingly quiet at times. Although here in the UK I run on LPG/Procaine which around these parts is about 72p per litre, although I do cover a lot of miles. I've owned my Grand Voyager 3.3 for almost 18 months now and have put 51,000 very comfortable miles under her wheels.
I could easily get 37 MPG out of my 2.5 manual CRD just doing a daily commute to work and back, half of which was in crawling traffic. I could get 45 and even the occasional 50 MPG on runs in excess of 100 miles. If I drive at a steady 70 MPH I can get into the low 40's in my 2.8 Auto.
During my recent trip to Spain and France I averaged 39 mpg over the 3,000 miles with a roof box and luggage for eight.

It's the only time I've ever had that, drove like a nun. 60mph max, easy acceleration, freewheeled downhill and on approach to roundabouts/junctions, freewheeled a lot more than usual.
Computers about 36 now, normally with combined driving it sits at 33.
Forgot, the 42 was towing a trailer too.
