Default 2001 T&C ABS Light Code 11 ECU Internal Failure

Hi All,

I just purchased a used high mileage (167,000) Town and Country LXi 3.8L. After driving it a few hundred miles, the brake, trac off and ABS light came on. They now come on and off intermittently. I purchased an Actron ABS Code reader and the stored code was #11 and it read ECU Internal Failure. Is anyone familiar with the fix for this? Do I need a new computer for the entire vehicle or just the ABS Controller? I know you can purchased remanufactured/reprogrammed ones and save money, but I want to make sure I know exactly what it is I need to do to take care of this issue.

Thanks,
Alex

Thanks for the reply. After I posted I realized that more than likely it was just the ABS controller/ECU. Quick question for you. It doesn't seem like replacing the controller/pump is all that difficult, but I do not have the tools to properly bleed the system once swapped out. Do you know what Chrylser charges to bleed the ABS/brake system? I thought about getting a used ABS ECU and then changing it myself and having the car towed to the dealer (just about 3 miles from my house) to be bled.

That would be awesome. The only thing I found on the web indicated I would need to remove the lines in on the pump and slide the whole thing out to be able to sperated the abs computer from the pump. Do you have a link or anywhere I could get detailed instructions so I could see how to remove the module from the pump without disconnecting all the lines into the pump. That would be sweet, cause from a trusted mechanic in Atlanta I spoke with he was talking $500 to remove old computer put new one on and bleed the system. I can get a used computer for under $100 and do it myself. I don't care if it takes me 6 hours if it will save me $400.
