2001 Voyager 2.5 crd draining battery
 

hello all,

Would anyone know what causes rapid battery loss (overnight) on this car. I have narrowed down the problem to the 14amp fuse for the radio and remote central locking system. I disconnected the radio completely but the problem persists. Only when I take this fuse off does battery loss cease. Any ideas.

Check that one of the internal lights is not staying on, otherwise sounds like you may have a faulty RKE modules. Download the manual for your car and follw the wiring associated with that circuit to see if anything else tails off it. You can find a manual here

is this the IOD fuse? could well be the battery in the siren that is U/S and is draining the main battery.

It is the IOD fuse. merlin - please say more about the siren battery being the cause of this. Where would it be and how could I rectify?

Glowplug - I have taken of all the internal light bulbs as they tend to stay on. Sadly this does not cure the problem.

All the light bulbs will stay on if the dimmer switch is turn all the way up. The siren in under the L/H/F headlamp, plug up under the wheel arch. Unplug it and see if the drain drops.

Hi, I have just disconnected the siren and the drain continues. The other thing, when I put the IOD fuse, the powere mirror motor seems to start automatically even though the engine is turned off completely. Any other ideas?

You are looking for a silver bullet. I doubt anyone can tell you exactly what the problem is without diagnosis. I suggested earlier that you download te workshop manual and trace the circuit. If you don't have this knowledge/experience then you should consider an auto electrician.

On my '01 T&C, I had a battery drain problem. This confused me until one day I went out to the vehicle and the right side power door motor was running all by itself. I disconnected the door motor, and no more battery drain. I haven't gotten around to replacing the motor or doing any other diagnosis.
