2002 2.5 CRD Cambelt change

Hi,

I'm in SW19 South London and need to get the belts and tensioner changed - would you recommend I get the waterpump done also? Car is on 141,000 and only came with part history and cant confirm if it has been done or not.

Also where is a good place to get this done - from what I can see it is quite an expensive job!

Thanks

Adeel

Hi
Water pump in not a common failure and it's a lot more of a job to do the pump as you will need to lock the cams properly instead of just holding them in-place. If it was mine I wouldn't do the water pump as it goes from 2 hours to 5 hours time wise, but it is better safe then sorry at your mileage.

Thanks Merlin, although I seem to have a bigger issue now - was driving around Hampton today and the car lost power and stalled, getting home to Wimbledon this happened around 25 times and after much frustration (have only had the car for two weeks) I wish I had never bought it and needless to say my wife is not impressed.

Any ideas from the experts - at idle it is very rough when cutting out and happens from a stanstill but never when moving.

Thanks in advance guys.

Change fuel filter, under car at rear. I've had this a few times, normally in the winter. Now I change it every September.

Kind Regards

Thanks Dandy, I actually ordered a new filter today but when I went to start the car today it just clicks and wont start - I moved it this morning and rechecked the codes via the key method and left till I got home from work but its completely dead and I will be too if I dont get this sorted!:(

I would have thought that if it's just clicking when you try to start it, then the battery is dead.

Charged the battery after realising that when I was cleaning it I left the interior lights on must have drained it for 3 hours!

On to fixing the problems I have found this company round the corner from me seem to have dealt with this issue before and the car goes in on Tuesday next week for diagnostic and they said they would test the injectors and the MPROP valve. Seem to be genuine people and come highly recommended from other garages in the area when I was doing the rounds.

Have you changed fuel filter yet? Easy job and if it solves the problem it saves you money. This has always been my car problem, had it a few times, dirty fuel, cold weather - I have same model 2002 2.5 CRD.
Anyhow - best of luck.

Got the filter in the post yesterday and just need to know how to fit it - I'm sure I can do it just need a handy guide to show me how!
