Default 2002 T&C won't start...10 amps ignition fuse blown???

Hi Everyone,

I'm new here and hoping you all can help me out. I have a 2002 T&C 3.3 that just quit at a stop sign and won't start now. All the electrical seems to be good (battery, alternator, no corrosion) EXCEPT blown 10 amp ignition fuse. I am looking for a wiring schematic so that I can replace this fuse. Does anyone know where I can find the schematic or does anyone have any other suggestions. Your help is greatly appreciated! Thanks.

most auto parts places will have the manual with a wire diagram that you can use. You will be looking for a short to ground on that fuse circuit. Wire issue or some hard part the fuse is protecting.

Also, have you tried just replacing the fuse and trying again? Sometimes fuses do go bad after many years of use and it's worth trying a replacement first before you start digging through your whole electrical wiring systems for a short, etc.

First check....Burnt wires near or touching exhaust manifolds/pipes.
Then the latest earthing position, wires going through the nearside wheel well. Think that one is ignition related.

They must have different fuses in the USA. I've been involved in electrics/electronics for 54 years and I know from experience that fuses get weaker over time so, unless they are highly over rated, in time they will fail. It's usually the initial surge when connecting the load that causes the final failure.

in this case there is several other larger fuses that the main power goes through first before the 10 amp power supply to the ASD relay is even powered up. how does a blade fuse get weaker when it has a low amp ratting on it and uses 12 volts? You must use a different kinda fuse setup in what ever you had your work delt with but as far as a car setup they dnt just blow unless its over the amp ratting on them.

Where on that fuse circuit do I need to look for a short to ground? I have heard that there is a secondary starter wire with an ohm resistance wire on this model...do you think this is relevant?

The IGN fuse won b for a starter it would be for spark. Kinda hard to tell which fuse it is thats blowing they did a stupid and not labile the fuses by numbers in the fuse panel any morer. SO see if your owners manual has the numbers listed and tell me what number it is and I can look up a wire diagram or you can find one yourself see all of whats on teh circuit.
