Default 2006 town country overheating

My town and country is overheating occassionly in the last 3 weeks. My wife drives it a lot ( 1000 - 1500 miles per week). I check the water levels and had to add twice in these three weeks. I have been smelling antifreeze in the garage but I see no leak or signs of leaks. The fans are coming on once the gauge gets about half way. The van only seem to heat up when the water levels are getting low.I know something is wrong because I can smell the antifreeze whenmy wifeparks the van in the garage.

Where is this antifreezesmell coming from?

Thank you for any help you can give.

Default RE: 2006 town country overheating

two possible places to leak.

one is somewhere near/on the radiator or one of the hoses, but very close to the engine. it is leaking only when the engine is hot, it doesn't leak a lot so you don't see it, but the heat of the engine dries it before it starts dripping on the floor.

two is the heater core inside the car, the one that is heating the passangers.
if the leak is there, then the antifreeze is soaking the carpet on the passanger side, and again you dont see the leak.

either way, it's a job for a professional.
