Default 2009 Town and country Power steering locks and braking is extremely hard Engine stops

I have an 09 Limited town and country with ~60k miles. While the vehicle was being driven the steering wheel locked and would not turn. The brake pedal was really hard to press and the ABS light turned on. Braking and power steering worked again after turning the vehicle off and back on. The ABS light went off as well.

Anyone have a similar issue like this? Fortunately, the vehicle was on a straight stretch of the road, otherwise it would have been a bad scene. The vehicle is going to the dealer in the morning just looking if anyone else has had a similar issue with this type of situation.

A very disturbing situation. One would think that a problem exists with the ignition lock system. I've never heard of this before with any vehicle.
One would expect a full report from the dealer with exact written details of their findings.

Took the car to the dealer following this event. Nothing reported from the dealer other than a $$ to my wallet. Incident has been documented. Time will tell if the error returns.

To udpate this post the vehicle has done this two more times since this initial incident. The vehicle motor has shutoff causing the power steering and brakes to stop functioning. The vehicle is back at the dealer with at this time no remediation. vehicle is now at 74.5k.

There is a recall for the ignition module for the 2010 model year. NHTSA campaign: 11V139000

09 vans have two recalls concerning wiring in the power sliding doors and for the blind spot monitor. I have read of the door wiring harness causing stalling because that same wire harness has CAN data bus wires routed through it that can intermittently short to ground. It's usually accompanied by erratic instruments. Not at all sure if the blind spot monitor could be attributed to stalling.

Don't have the blind spot feature in this vehicle and the wiring harness was replaced a few years ago based on the recall. Will check the cabling for anything worn as they are constantly moving.

bikerbeng,

Great thinking on checking to see if any wires have worn through, may be something simple.
Please re post if you have more information after visiting your dealer.

The wires all appear to be in good shape with no signs of wear. My vehicle doesn't exhibit any erratic electrical issues indicated by Raptor 07. Still no solution at this point.

bikerbeng,

Thanks for the follow up.
It may be time to get it looked at by your dealer.
Any number of electrical components could be responsible for these symptoms.

Other possible reported causes are the WIN module (ignition switch) and the TIPM (fuse box). Both have histories across the 5th generation fleet. Both require test equipment to troubleshoot normally only at dealerships or advanced automotive electronic shops.
