Thumbs down 2010 T&C Engine Malfuntion Light

We have had our 2010 T&C in 3 different times in the past 2 months for the engine malfuntion light coming on. The first time they told us it was nothing and to watch it. 2 weeks later it came on again. That time they said they had to send info to Chrysler and they would get back to us.

2 1/2 weeks later they called and said they were going to replace the purge solenoid which they did on Nov. 2nd.

Now the light came on again this morning.

This is getting really frustrating. Anyone have any ideas what could be going on?

It is a T&C Touring Plus with 6200 miles on it.

I don't have the info on the codes. They aren't very great at the dealship about telling me much which is becoming an issue.

They did tell me each time I took it in, it has nothing to do with the gas cap being left loose. The 2nd time I had it in, they said it all checked out ok on the computer, but they had to send info to Chrysler to figure out what is going on. That is when they replaced the purge solenoid.

Another question.....could it have any effect on my gas mileage? It wasn't great before. When they changed the solenoid it was better and I noticed the past week it wasn't great again and then the light came on this morning.

I am getting really frustrated!!

I understand....thanks! I am just really frustrated since they seem to act like they don't have a clue what they are doing. First they just tell me it is an evap leak. Then they tell me it is nothing and clear out the light only for it to come back on 2 weeks later.

I am taking it in on Friday. I am hoping to get some answers. I was just hoping I could go in with a little more knowledge rather than just taking their word for it.

Well, I took it in on Friday. They said it was a code 456. They did a smoke test and then a forced smoke test. Since they had already replaced the purge solenoid, they ended up replacing a switch on the evap system. They are hoping that it will fix the problem. I guess time will tell!
